Why Cabañas La Pradera?

Rafael Arguedas Herrera, who helped found and develop the town of Monteverde since 1934, was always admired for his hard work and solidarity.

Since he settled with his family, he dreamed of educating his children in the best possible way. This effort brought him the idea of founding the first elementary school in Monteverde.

During this period of time, in the 60's, Rafael Arguedas acquired our property of approximately 14 hectares. Rafael and his children were engaged in livestock and sugarcane plantations. From here comes the concept of our name 'Cabañas la Pradera'. Where behind the primary forests were pastures that inspired peace and tranquility.

This small paradise is still preserved by the Arguedas brothers and their respective families. However, the pastures were reforested during the last 30 years, in order to protect and preserve the charm of the mountain.

Today we are a small team of family and Costa Rican staff, delighted to meet our visitors. Dedicated to provide a warm environment for more than 11 years in a property among native trees and well cared for gardens. The property provides home to a wide variety of wildlife such as the sloths or the bell birds, where nature and animals are integrated with love and respect.
